Spanish Succession Baggage Train

 Here are some baggage wagons, these are done up for my spanish succession.  they are a collection of mixed pack horses and wagons.

Vauban Fortress

Here is my Star Fort, or rather Vauban Fort.  Its just finished so not used yet but I do plan on getting a go with it soon.  I went for a simple 5 bastions and 1 outer bastion to cover the gate.  The whole thing is made of card with a layer of milliput over the top for texture 'brickwork'  There are 2 bridges to approach the fort and 1 bridge to enter it, all 3 can be cut/burnt if the enemy attack. 

WSS French engineers

 I have some new French engineers/Pioneers for my Spanish succession.  I based them with Gabions so they are in the act of building defences. 

 

 I also have some limbers for both Austrian and French, based in groups of 2 to match my cannon basing.

6mm Spanish Sussession Austrian Army

 The Austrian army, Built for the Italian Campaign, and will be a defensive army, so I will need fortress guns to add to it, and it needs more infantry but its on my list of stuff to do.  I based the battalion guns on 2x3cm bases to slot in with the line infantry, you can see the results with my French army post.

 Austrian Dragoons, so far they are the best units in the army, despite the fact they are only 4.

6mm Spanish succession French Army

 Ok so its not a full army yet but its on its way.  I am doing the Italian campaign mostly thanks to mr baccus person [Peter], I was chatting to him about what to do with WSS, british/French etc and what campaign.  He said Italian campaign, so here I am.   I am making the French army as a attacking army, my Austrians defensive.

 French generals, 1 overall commander, 2 sub generals and 2 lower generals, depicted with different number of figures.

 French Mortars.  I decided to dig the cannon into position with gabions around them, simply as it looks cool.  The gabions are made from sticks with wire wrapped around and gravel stuck to the top. 

 French siege guns, dug in and ready to blast the Austrian defences.

 French dragoons, dismounted to represent how they fought, I dislike mounted dragoons.

 French cuirassier, and 1 regiment of gendarme, 3 regiments of guard cavalry.

 French horse, only 4 regiments so far.

Spanish succession game

 We finally got down to do a Spanish succession game, my French army against Austrians.  a simple scenario, one river with 2 crossings, the player holding both crossings at the end is the winner.  or so we thought.

 French dragoons quickly secured one bridge and held it for the rest of the game to the Austrian commanders surprise. (me - dam the dice sir!)

 French cavalry crossing the secured bridge smashed into the Austrian dragoons routing them with ease, however the Baden regiments halted the advance and would become the best units of the day for sheer determination.

 Austrian infantry try to stop the advancing cavalry, to little effect, their attempt to form squire ended in a disordered rout.

 Austrian forces withdrew to the church walls and the centre buckled, leaving the Baden forces the only intact unit in the field.

 The Austrians in the church held a turn, but finally were overrun.

 a grand advance of French infantry swept the French cavalry from the hill, taking the flank.

On the last turn the Austrian army was in full rout, however the Baden troops still held one bridge, and so as far as the result went, even with the Austrians routed they still held a bridge, with the French holding the second bridge the game was a draw, with points advantage to the French, however the Austrians admitted effective defeat out of a sense of fair play. (Dam them dice sir, dam them!)

Spanish Succession Steam Tank

 During the Spanish Succession there was a steam tractor that was built by the French, I took that a step further and put a ACW ironclad style hull over the top and called it a Spanish succession seamtank, just a fun project but I like the look of it.

Its 28mm in scale, has 3 cannon fitted, god knows how the crew would reload them when fired but still a fun project.

 A couple of regiments of scots from the jabite rebellion range  from Underthebed Miniatures. 

WSS Austrian Cavalry

 Austrian Currassiers from my own collection, although cavalry look like cavalry.   The Austrians in the war of spanish succession only fielded Currassiers as cavalry and hussars as light horse which limits actions on the battlefield but we shall see how they play.

Here are some Spanish succession French. Just a starter pack from Baccus for my own Spanish succession army I am planning. 3 French regiments (Bassignyn, Vexin, Gondrin) and 1 Irish (Clare).
